The Girl Who Fell From the Sky by Emma Carey

I added this book to my TBR list after a fellow library member returned it and the title caught my eye.

From the very first page, I was drawn into Emma’s harrowing journey after a tragic skydiving accident that left her with life-altering injuries. Her vivid storytelling and raw honesty pulled me in.

Through Emma’s diary-like writing style; I felt her pain, fear, and ultimately her determination to reclaim her life. She explores themes of identity, family, recovery, grief, love, the complex nature of healing and the power of hope. What stood out most to me was her ability to find beauty during hardship, turning her trauma into unwavering strength.

This memoir isn’t just about surviving an accident; it’s about embracing your body and your life in all its messiness. I found it quite vulnerable and thought-provoking (I was also taken aback by the horrific insurance medical tests). However, Emma radiates positivity throughout so I have no doubt there will be takeaways for everyone.
