The Gilded Cage by Camilla Lackberg

Everyone should know by now that I looveee a good thriller and The Gilded Cage did not disappoint!

In fact, I enjoyed it that much that I got myself to the library pronto (whilst on holidays) so I could borrow #2 in the Faye’s Revenge duology, Silver Tears by Camilla Lackberg. I originally picked up The Gilded Cage after a recommendation from a fellow staff member, who also enjoyed this title. So, what’s it about:

Faye von Essen lives the high life – ultra-swanky apartment in the most exclusive area of Stockholm, tick, gorgeous husband who gives her everything she’s ever wanted, tick, adorable daughter who lights up her world, tick. Faye’s life seems perfect. So how is it, then, that she now finds herself in a police station? Faye’s life is far from what it seems, Faye isn’t even her real name. And now she’s been caught out. There’s no way she’s going to go down without a fight. The only question is – who will escape with their life?

Book #2, Silver Tears continues to follow Faye’s story & knits together her childhood with who she is today and how she became ‘Faye’. Both books are great stories of love and betrayal, of friendship, feminism and revenge – & revenge is so sweet! Lackberg’s series, set in her hometown, stands out for its depiction of the Swedish coast, well-drawn characters and complex plots. Although I questioned certain parts, I did still thoroughly enjoy both titles. 😊

Both titles are available to borrow through RRL branches with The Gilded Cage also available as an eBook via Borrow Box.
