It’s just Scout and Dad now, traveling in their truck, “Big Rig”, on a mission to deliver donations of dog food to animal rescue shelters through so many of your very own towns, including Batlow and Gundagai.
On their trip Scout soon finds out the plight these vulnerable dogs face and she finds a way to place them in homes, well, actually, with lonely truckers.
When her Dad picked Scout up from boarding school she had hoped to convince him not to take her back, but maybe this journey through the bushfire ravaged countryside, and finding forever homes for these previously mistreated and abandoned dogs has helped her to find friendship back at school too.
I feel that Dianne Wolfer has written a book that provides kids – and adults – with inspiration to follow a passion to protect our vulnerable and loyal pets and, also, to find their own way towards being themselves and forging new friendships when life hits a bump in the road.
