As a child of the 90s, Harry Potter (HP) dominated my teenage years and I have reread the series more times than I can count! I am always looking for ways to revisit this series, so I was excited to hear that Tom Felton, the bad-boy Draco Malfoy, had written a biography.
It met all my HP dreams! I loved the many behind-the-scenes tales that resulted from Tom growing up on a movie set, both good and bad. There is no shortage of fun stories about filming, with my favorite being the unscripted ‘rehearsal’ of sorts between Tom and Emma Watson for the Hemione slapping Draco scene. It is worth a read for that story!
Something I did not expect from this biography was Tom’s discussion of mental health, and its impact on his life. I found it refreshing that he talked about it so openly in a way I could relate to, as at the end of the day he is not only an accomplished actor, but human too.
I definitely recommend this book, not only to HP fans, but anyone looking for a charming read of an actor’s life.’
