Set in the aftermath of the popular tale Hansel & Gretel, this magical novel follows Greta who supports herself and her brother by making gingerbread using the magic book she took from the witch.
But there are lots of unanswered questions.
Greta is not really sure what happened on that terrible day, and it seems that magic, especially dark magic, is all around her in a time when being branded a witch is dangerous.
I found this book to be a real page-turner, as the backstory and plot kept me really engaged with the novel.
If you are a fan of fairy tales and would like to read the grown-up versions, I would recommend this for you.
