The Rookie Gardener by Chloe Foster

Chloe Foster is a horticulturist with a passion to share her knowledge and encourage everyone to create a garden.

Whether it is a large bare block or a small indoor space, she says we can all garden.

Chloe has a clever, fun way of explaining the basic science of soils and plant growth. The book moves on to discuss styles of gardens, watering methods, worms and compost. It also includes a long list of plants and their descriptions and uses.

It is written in a joyful and encouraging style, with lots of tips and tricks and ‘rabbit hole reading’ for more information on a topic.

There are many books written on the art of gardening in Australia, but this is the most accessible, engaging and humorous one I have read. It is inclusive of all gardeners, incomes, climates and styles. Chloe does not tell you to rush out and buy everything to create your dream. She takes you through practical, sustainable steps to achieve great results.

I highly recommend this book as a wonderful read helping us all to have the knowledge & confidence to achieve a fabulous garden.
