This is one of Liane Moriarty’s earlier books, but in light of the new TV adaptation, I thought I would give this book the attention it deserves.
Sophie Honeywell’ s life is a little bit complicated and luckless. So when her ex-boyfriend Thomas tells her that his late Aunt Connie has left the family home to her in her will, she decides to take the leap and move into the beautiful house on Scribbly Gum Island.
Thomas’s family have lived on the island for generations and are famous for the Munro Baby mystery. The Munro baby was found abandoned in her house, her parents missing, never to be seen again. Throughout the story, we meet the eccentric extended family, all with their own secrets and theories about the Munro Baby mystery.
Every character that Liane has created is so well written and so relatable – you will feel such a connection with each of them. I found this book to be thoroughly entertaining and uplifting with so many social and family issues discussed. Liane Moriarty is the queen of giving her characters happiness without the fairytale ending.
If you get a chance to listen to the audiobook on Borrowbox, you will not be disappointed. The narrator, Caroline Lee really embraces Liane’s quirky Aussie sense of humour and brings each character to life.
I loved this book.
