Katrina: Hey Kim, I finished Mad Mabel on Borrowbox!!!
Kim: Oh nice. What did you think?
Katrina: Loved it. So good. You?
Kim: Mad Mabel was my favourite read of 2025, hands down.
I love the way Sally writes her characters and relationships. I was laughing in some parts and definitely cried a couple of times. Who was your favourite character?
Katrina: Mabel was really interesting and I liked her voice. I think Sally did an amazing job of writing from the perspective of an 81-year-old. It sounded authentic. But Persephone really grew on me too. She was an annoying kid, but also the kind of kid that steals your heart with her raw honesty. What did you think of the ending?
Kim: I agree. Their relationship was such a slow burn but so heartwarming. The ending was such a clever way to resolve the underlying mystery and made me go through all the feels.
How can Sally Hepworth make you love and hate these imaginary people?!? I have recommended this book to everyone I know, and they have all agreed with the hype.
Katrina: There were certainly some dramatic twists, but they made perfect sense and didn’t feel far-fetched. And yes, all the feels. Definitely shed a few tears for Mable with all she went through. Five stars from me.
Kim: Same, five stars.
